Tensions between the U.S. and Iran have escalated sharply after President Trump gave Tehran a 10–15 day deadline to strike a nuclear deal or face military action. Iran responded defiantly — its UN Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani warned that all U.S. bases, facilities, and assets in the Gulf region would become "legitimate targets" if Washington attacks. Supreme Leader Khamenei doubled down, claiming Iran possesses weapons capable of sinking U.S. warships and calling Trump "foolish" for trying to predetermine the outcome of negotiations. Meanwhile, the U.S. has amassed its largest military buildup in the Middle East since 2003, with two aircraft carriers, dozens of warships, hundreds of fighter jets, and over 150 cargo flights delivering weapons to the region.
