US-China Trade War: Donald Trump considering tariff of $100 billion on Chinese goods
US President Donald Trump announced that he has instructed US Trade Representative to consider slapping $100 billion in additional tariffs on Chinese goods. This announcement came a day after Beijing announced plans to impose $50 billion of tariffs on American products. This has escalated the trade stand-off that has been going on between the two countries. To defend the call on tariffs, Trump has in the past said that Chinese trade practices has led to closure of American factories and loss of American jobs.
