Updated on Mar 24, 2015 07:34 PM IST
France's president said that no survivors were likely after a passenger jet carrying 148 people crashed in the French Alps on Tuesday. The Germanwings Airbus passenger jet crashed as it travelled from Barcelona to Duesseldorf, French officials said. Germanwings is a lower-cost unit of Lufthansa, Germany's biggest airline, that has been operating since 2002 - part of traditional national carriers' response from rising European budget carriers.
