Did Patrick Clancy vacation in Costa Rica weeks after his children's funeral? AllTrails review sparks buzz
A years-old AllTrails review attributed to Patrick Clancy has gone viral as Lindsay Clancy's murder trial continues.
A hiking review attributed to Patrick Clancy has gone viral on social media as the murder trial of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, continues in Massachusetts. The post, dated February 21, 2023, shows a five-star review for the Manakin Waterfall Nature Reserve in Costa Rica.
The Clancy children's funeral was held earlier that month following their deaths on January 24, 2023.
The renewed attention comes as jurors hear testimony about Lindsay Clancy's mental health before she killed the couple's three children. Prosecutors argue Lindsay Clancy intentionally murdered the children after sending her husband on an errand. The defense does not dispute that she caused the deaths but argues she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder.
Deep Dive
The review has fueled online discussion after users noted that Patrick Clancy traveled to Costa Rica about 20 days after the children's funeral. However, neither prosecutors nor defense attorneys in Lindsay Clancy's trial have raised the alleged trip during court proceedings. HT.com could not independently verify the alleged review.
What does the AllTrails review say?
The review, visible on Patrick's public AllTrails profile, praises the Manakin Waterfalls Nature Reserve in Tilarán, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
Patrick allegedly shared an image with the view of the trail and wrote, “This hike was amazing. It is short, but LOTS of stairs. You will be dripping sweat. I’m not sure about the $17. I was the only one there with no one else in sight. There’s also zero cell service.”
The timing has led to criticism on social media, where some users questioned whether Patrick Clancy should have traveled abroad so soon after the tragedy.
One user wrote, “Patrick Clancy was hiking in Costa Rica and leaving 5-star reviews about what an 'amazing' time he had. The post-tragedy timeline and choices continue to raise serious questions.”
Another user wrote, “I’m not usually one for conspiracy theories. But you’re telling me that 20 days after their funerals, Patrick Clancy went hiking in Costa Rica.”
One of the commentators crticized him for writing a review and said, “This can’t be real… that’s insane! I can seee wanting to get away from the world and go on a trip but to leave a review is psychopathic.”
Some users defended Patrick and wrote, “I went to the beach on vacation 2 1/2 weeks after my son died. It was already planned. I desperately needed to get away because I wanted to crawl out of my skin because of the shock and grief. Want to judge me too? ”
Rachel Danis's review of a fishing charter in Massachusetts
Separately, another screenshot circulating online shows a Rachel Danis who left a review for a fishing charter in Scituate, Massachusetts.
Rachel Danis and Patrick tied the knot in April 2026, and the duo now lives in New York City. Online users have suggested that Patrick met Rachel while he was still married to Lindsay Clancy and have claimed that they had"something going on little longer than you tell."
The review is dated August 12, 2025.
The review read, “Captain Anthony was awesome!! This is our 3rd year going out with him and have had an incredible time. We have always caught something and he is always helpful and educates where needed!”
Users online have focused on the words “our 3rd year” and have alleged that this reflects a prior relationship with Patrick. However, HT.com could not independently verify whether the reviewer is indeed the same Rachel Danis. No court filings or public records presented during the criminal trial substantiate them.
