LONDON: Scotland Yard said on Friday it was considering opening an investigation into recent revelations about drugs and male prostitutes involving senior Labour MP Keith Vaz, who this week resigned as chair of an influential parliamentary committee. In an expose, the Sunday Mirror had reported Vaz’s encounter with male escorts at his London flat in August. In a statement, Scotland Yard said: “Following allegations in the Sunday Mirror on Sunday, 4 September, concerning a member of Parliament, the Met Police can confirm a letter was received on Wednesday, 7 September requesting police consider the matter. “The letter has been forwarded to the Met’s special inquiry team, part of Specialist Crime and Operations, to assess and identify what criminal offences - if any - may have been committed.”
