19 missing, 1 rescued in east China boat collision

A Liberian ship collided with a Chinese fishing boat in the East China Sea, leaving 19 people missing, the official Xinhua News Agency said on Sunday.

A Liberian ship collided with a Chinese fishing boat in the East China Sea, leaving 19 people missing, the official Xinhua News Agency said on Sunday.

The collision occurred late Saturday night and the fishing boat, licensed in Zhejiang province, capsized, Xinhua said, citing the Zhejiang Maritime Affairs Bureau. One person was rescued, Xinhua said, but did not give any other details.

A man who answered the telephone at the Zhejiang Maritime Rescue Center said he would not answer questions from the press. Phones rang unanswered at the maritime affairs bureau.
