2 moderate earthquakes shake up northern Chile

No injuries or damages were reported after the twin temblors, measuring magnitude 5.5 and 4.7, struck early today.

The US Geological Survey says two moderately sized earthquakes have shaken up northern Chile.

No injuries or damages were reported after the twin temblors, measuring magnitude 5.5 and 4.7, struck early today.

The first quake registered at 3.39 am local time, and was centred in the ocean 25 kilometres off Coquimbo port and 460 kilometres north of the capital of Santiago. The second hit at 6.23 am local time 57 kilometres north of Antofagasta in Chile's extreme north.
