The bomber detonated his explosive vest when he was stopped from entering the Hujra (guest house) of the member of the pro-government militia at Mattani, a suburb of Peshawar.
A policeman and a member of a militia were among the dead, police said. The injured were taken to Lady Reading Hospital. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack though such bombings are usually blamed on the banned Pakistani Taliban.
