An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale jolted a border area between China and Russia, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The last night's quake epicenter, with a depth of 560 km, was monitored at 43.3 degrees north latitude and 131.2 degrees east longitude, the center said in a statement.
The epicenter was 80 km away from the county seat of Hunchun in China's northeastern Jilin Province, and 140 km away from the province's Yanji City.
This area had been jolted by anatectic earthquakes measuring between magnitudes of six and seven for many times in history, but no human casualties or property losses had been made, Xinhua quoted the statement as saying.
