7 killed in Indonesian train crash
A railway official says a passenger train has slammed into a crowded bus in central Indonesia, killing at least seven people. Dozens of others have been injured. Adi Suryatmini, a spokeswoman for the Indonesian Railway Company, says Monday's accident occurred at a railway crossing in the district of Kediri, on the main island of Java.
She says three coaches derailed when the train struck the overcrowded bus.
Train and bus accidents are common on Indonesia's aging transportation networks and claim scores of lives every year.
