The deputy police chief for Helmand province, Kamaluddin Khan, said Monday that the attack in Gershk district happened on Sunday night.
In a separate incident, the police chief in neighboring Nimroz province says an airstrike by international coalition forces killed four suspected Taliban fighters who were planting a bomb. Abdul Jabar Pardeli says a Taliban commander was among those killed by Sunday night's strike.
