Bangladesh probes deaths of ‘mutineers’
Bangladesh has ordered a probe into the deaths in custody of 21 border troops held after a mutiny in which scores of army officers were slaughtered, an official said on Thursday.
The investigation would be led by a senior civil servant and would determine the causes of these “unnatural deaths”.
“The committee has been given 15 days to complete the probe...,” he he added. Four of the 21 deaths were suicides, while the others resulted from heart attacks and other causes, a Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) spokesman has said.
