Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai, an Afghan National Police spokesman in northern Afghanistan, said on Friday that the bomb was placed on a motorbike parked in a yard of the mosque in Faryab province.
In the city of Herat in western Afghanistan, police say a bomb on a small cart exploded on Friday, killing an Afghan woman and wounding seven other civilians.
Separately, the US-led coalition says a NATO service member was killed in an insurgent attack, raising to four the number of foreign troops killed on Thursday in southern Afghanistan.
