At least 16 people were killed and 35 injured when a car bomb exploded in a busy market in northeastern Baghdad on Tuesday evening.
"A car bomb ripped through a busy market in Shaab district in northeastern Baghdad, killing at least 16 people and wounding 35 others," the source said, without giving more details.
Earlier Tuesday, two people were killed and 10 others injured in a car bomb attack targeted police patrol in Kirkuk City, north of Baghdad, local police source said.
Violence continued in Baghdad and other cities despite a security plan staged by the US and Iraqi security forces in the capital since Feb 14 with the aim of putting the rampant violence under control.
