Police spokesman Mariusz Sokolowski said that emergency forces were out in massive force on Saturday, using helicopters and boats to monitor the situation and evacuate people in flood-stricken areas.

Officials are evacuating people from neighborhoods in the western city of Wroclaw after the Oder River broke its banks in two places. Poland was hit by flooding last weekend after heavy rains. Southern parts of the country were hit the worst, but northern areas are also being inundated as swollen waters in rivers move north toward the Baltic Sea.
