Betancourt, 46, is due to arrive in the French capital on Friday afternoon on a French jet that is also carrying her two children, her mother Yolanda Pulecio and Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner.

"I am eager to be in France, I am eager to be home," she said one day after a daring rescue by the Colombian military that ended her six-year jungle ordeal.
