Fireworks blast toll in China rises to 15

Fifteen people are confirmed dead and six are injured in a blast in a fireworks factory in north China's Mongolia region.

Fifteen people were confirmed dead and six injured in a blast on Saturday in a fireworks factory in north China's Mongolia region, authorities said on Sunday.

Rescue teams recovered 13 bodies from the gutted factory in Sijiazi township and rescued six injured workers, a regional works safety bureau official said.

Rescuers on Sunday morning found two more bodies under the debris, raising the toll to 15, he added. Preliminary investigation said the blast occurred because of violation of plant safety rules by the workers.
