The First United Nations Global Road Safety Week Movement, organised by Yangon Division Traffic Rules Enforcement Committee, was held at International Business Centre here on Tuesday.

Major General Hla Htay Win, Chairman of Yangon Division Peace and Development Council, in his address at the opening ceremony, said the movement would speed up Myanmar's road safety measures.
Besides, all-round efforts are to be made for ensuring road safety of the people, he added.
The special message from UN Secretary-General was also read on the occasion by UNDP Resident Representative Charles Petrie, who presented prizes to winners of essay, poster and painting competitions on road safety.
