At least four Iraqis were killed and two wounded on Saturday in an attack in the northern Khalis town, an Iraqi security source said.

Gunmen opened fire on a vehicle carrying civilians in a major street in Khalis in Baquba city, 60 km north of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad, the source added. The attackers escaped.

Baquba is the capital of Diyala province where clashes between militants and Iraqi and US forces erupted two months ago.
