Traffic on many roads in the city was thrown out of gear and trains on the central and harbour lines were running slowly, official sources said on Sunday.

All international and domestic flights in and out of Mumbai were also affected for more than six hours due to poor visibility following heavy rain, airport officials said.

A large number of trees were uprooted across the city since Saturday night but there was no loss of life, fire brigade sources said.

In Raigad district, where landslides and wall collapses occurred last week, flood water has entered Mahad town, Nagothane, Roha and surrounding areas, district administration sources said.

There was a fresh landslide at Krushnagar near Goregaon but there was no damage to life and property, they added.

Meanwhile, the toll across the state since last Monday has climbed to 891 with Mumbai alone accounting for 418 deaths, official sources said in Mumbai.

In Thane (city and rural), 202 people died in rain-related incidents; in Raigad district 119; Navi Mumbai 56; Sindhudurg 6; Ratnagiri district 15; Nanded 8; Parbhani 3; Amravati (rural) 5; Kolhapur 10; Pune (city and rural) 11; Beed 5; Aurangabad (rural) 4; Yavatmal 7; Washim 2; Bhandara 1; Wardha 1; Hingoli 1; Satara 3.

All long distant trains on the Central Railway remained cancelled till August 6, Railway sources said.

The suburban trains on the Central (Main) are running only up to Kalyan, the sources said.

On the Western Railway, all the long distance trains are running on schedule.

The weather office has warned fishermen not to venture into the sea as it will be "rough to very rough with south-westerly waves but no warning flag has been hoisted," it said.

The downpour in the city evoked fears among people still coming to grips with the devastation wreaked by the century's highest rainfall last Tuesday, which brought the metropolis to a halt.

In Marathwada region, rescue and relief operations at Nanded and Parbhani districts, which were badly hit by torrential rains leading to inundation of a number of villages, were on a large scale.

In Nanded, over 20,000 families staying in low-lying areas on the banks of Godavari River were shifted to relief camps opened by districts administration.
