"There are around 2,75,000 people of Indian origin in Great Britain and their votes are up for grabs for both the parties -- Conservatives and Labour," Ghorpade, on a visit to the city said.

He hoped that the quarter of a million Indians would play an active role in promoting Indo-British relations.

The Association of the Passport Holders India (APNA), in the United Kingdom had put forth two basic demands - one to classify Indian citizens abroad as 'citizens of India' and not as NRIs or PIOs and to scrap the 'Pravasi Bharatiya Divas', Ghorpade, president of the association said.
