'Medvedev takes control of nuclear arsenal'

Dmitry Medvedev assumes control of Russia's nuclear arsenal at a ceremony with military officials.

Newly inaugurated President Dmitry Medvedev on Wednesday assumed control of Russia's nuclear arsenal at a ceremony with military officials, Russian news agencies reported.

Medvedev, who was sworn in to succeed Vladimir Putin hours earlier, took command of the arsenal in the presence of Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov and military officers in the Kremlin, ITAR-TASS and other national agencies reported.
