Chamnay Khan and his three accomplices were arrested during flushing-out operations in the Mattal area of the valley in North West Frontier Province (NWFP), said Shahid Abbas, an officer of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Abbas told the Geo News channel that as many as 11 suspects were also arrested in Kabal area of the valley.

The Swat valley, once renowned for its scenic views and ancient Buddhist relics, has been ravaged by recent violence blamed on pro-Taliban militants.

Pakistan security forces have stepped up anti-militancy operations in the valley since last July.
