Missing US soldier appears on Taliban video

A Taliban video released on Tuesday appears to show US soldier Bowe Bergdahl, who was captured in Afghanistan in June 2009, the IntelCenter monitoring group said today.

A Taliban video released on Tuesday appears to show US soldier Bowe Bergdahl, who was captured in Afghanistan in June 2009, the IntelCenter monitoring group said on Wednesday. "The video contains a brief portion of new footage of someone that appears to be US soldier Bowe Bergdahl, who has been held hostage by the Taliban since his disappearance from his unit on 30 June, 2009," a statement from IntelCenter said.

Someone who appears to be "Taliban commander Maulawi Sangin," who had threatened to kill Bergdahl in July 2009, was also in the video, IntelCenter said. The last video that appeared to show Bergdahl was released in April 2010, the monitoring group said.
