Moderate quake off southern California

A moderate 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit on Monday near the southern US city of San Diego and the Mexican border town of Tijuana, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

A moderate 4.8-magnitude earthquake hit on Monday near the southern US city of San Diego and the Mexican border town of Tijuana, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The quake struck off the northwestern Mexican state of Baja California at a depth of 6.9 kilometers (4.3 miles), the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter was 26 kilometers southwest of Imperial Beach, California, and 31 kilometers southwest of Tijuana.
