Obama sends Roemer’s nomination to Senate

A former US lawmaker and a member of the 9/11 Commission, Roemer is currently head of a Washington-based think tank.

He is considered close to Obama and was among the first few Democrat leaders to support Obama in his run for US Presidency.

Roemer’s nomination was officially announced by the White House on May 28. Now the Senate Foreign Relations Committee would schedule a confirmation hearing for Roemer - the date for which is expected to be announced soon. PTI LKJ ZH

For Central government servants stationed outside Delhi, there will be 14 declared holidays and three others which they can select from a list of 12 festivals.

Central government organisations which include industrial, commercial and trading establishments and Union Territory administrations would observe upto 16 holidays in a year including three national holidays, the ministry said.

Holidays are restricted to 15 days in a year for banks as per Department of Economic Affairs instructions, it said.
