Pakistan is largest CNG user in the world

Pakistan is the largest user of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for running automobiles in the world and is way ahead of India, a media report said Friday.

Pakistan is the largest user of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for running automobiles in the world and is way ahead of India, a media report said Friday.

The daily Dawn reported that Pakistan became the largest CNG user in the world by overtaking Iran, Argentina and Brazil in the number of vehicles using it as fuel.

According to the Economic Survey 2010-11, the transport sector has also switched over from petrol and diesel to CNG.

In Pakistan, 21 percent vehicles have converted to CNG and it was way ahead of India that had a little over a million vehicles converted to CNG, 730,000 in Italy, and 450,000 in China, the media report said.

There are 3,329 CNG stations in the country and 2.5 million vehicles are running on gas.
