Policy of China to develop friendly relations with India: Liu

Emphasising that friendly relations between India and China was important for peace and development in Asia, Liu Qibao, Party Secretary of Sichuan province on Tuesday said it was policy of the Chinese Government to develop friendly relations with this country.

Emphasising that friendly relations between India and China was important for peace and development in Asia, Liu Qibao, Party Secretary of Sichuan province on Tuesday said it was policy of the Chinese Government to develop friendly relations with this country.

Liu, who is currently on a visit to India, called on External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and had fruitful exchange of views on bilateral issues, a ministry statement said in New Delhi.

During the meeting, Liu said "China welcomes the rapid growth of India’s economy and in its international standing, and that it is the policy of the Chinese Communist Party and of the Chinese Government to develop friendly relations with India."

On his part, Krishna also conveyed to Liu that India desires to build a strong and stable relationship with Beijing and to develop strong bonds of friendship between people of the two countries.
