External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukheree on Monday discussed with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon various international issues, including expansion of the Security Council.
The half-an-hour meeting between the two leaders was held in a "cordial and warm" atmosphere, officials said.
No further details were immediately available.
Other issues that came up during discussions included climate change on which Secretary-General had convened a special conference on Sept 24, officials said.
