The video showed the couple in the middle of a renewal-of-vows ceremony surrounded by the staff of the Vilu Reef resort. But unknown to the duo, one among the staff acting as the ‘minister’ unleashed a volley of insults against them in the local Dhivehi language.

Sensing the potential damage the incident could do to the tourism of Maldives, President Mohamed Nasheed said on Friday that tourist hotels without exception will be required to follow the guidelines to be issued shortly.
