The book tells the story about the life and adventures of an escaped Australian convict in Mumbai.
The actress posted on her website her decision to set up a book club for Hollywood A listers, specifically to help best friend Madonna make a fresh start after her recent headline grabbing divorce from British director Guy Ritchie, The Mirror reported.
Paltrow revealed her plans on her website and wrote that she has asked some celebrity friends to join in. "I feel a bit swallowed up in January, the days are so short, the sky is so close and grey. The best way to escape is to curl up by the fire with an amazing, transportive novel," she said.
"I like knowing the literary preferences of people, it gives a better understanding of their inner life," Paltrow added.
The actress who is married to British band Coldplay's lead singer Chris Martin also revealed that Madonna's favourite book was 'The Bad Girl' by Mario Vargas Llosa which chronicles the life of a teenager hungering for money and power.
