Sri Lanka rushed Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama to Pakistan today after the national cricket team was attacked in Lahore, the president's office said.

Bogollagama, who is accompanying President Mahinda Rajapakse on an official visit to Nepal, has been asked to cut short his visit and head for Lahore immediately, a spokesman said.

"Instructions have also been given to the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Islamabad to facilitate the arrangements with Pakistani authorities on medical attention for the players in hospital, and their safe return to Sri Lanka," the official said.
