Time bomb difused in northwest Pakistan

Italian-made eight-kilogramme bomb diffused near the house of former councillor.

Explosives experts diffused a time bomb planted near the home of a former councillor in Hangu district in northwest Pakistan today.

An Italian-made eight-kilogramme bomb was diffused near the house of former councillor Eisa Gul in Darband village of Hangu district, located adjacent to the restive Orakzai tribal region, said Asad Khan, the official in-charge of the local bomb disposal squad.

In a separate development, police in Hangu arrested 32 'proclaimed offenders' or fugitives and 50 suspected militants during a search operation conducted in the district over the past few days.

Police also recovered a large quantity of arms and narcotics from the arrested persons, district police chief Farid Khan Khattak said.
