United Nations to take up Libya

The UN Security Council is meeting late Tuesday partly at the request of the deputy permanent representative of the Libyan mission to UN, Ibrahim Dabbashi, who disowned the Gaddafi government on Monday.

What’s happening at home is “genocide” Dabbashi said at a news conference with the rest of the mission lined up behind him. The diplomatic uprising followed a call from UN secretary general Ban ki Moon to Gaddafi urging restraint.
