Noted actor Aamir Khan arrived in the city on Sunday morning to begin shooting for his upcoming film 'Dangal', a biopic on famous Haryanvi wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat. City residents had been eagerly waiting for him ever since the news of his film shooting was made public.
At around 10am, he checked in at Radisson Blu MBD Hotel and was welcomed traditionally with "bhangra" and "giddha" performance arranged by the hotel management.
Interestingly, both young and old had gathered outside the hotel entrance to get a glimpse of him with their cameras. Some of them even got lucky in getting pictures clicked with him.
With a smile on his face, he stepped out of his car and entered his executive suite that has been booked for him at the hotel. He was dressed in simply and was carrying a book in his hand. He looked different in his new avatar for the said movie and resembled like a wrestler.
Wrestling ring set up in hotel's gym
While talking to HT, hotels' manager marketing and communications Manav Inder Guram said major part of the shoot is scheduled in the hotel, where a wrestling ring has been set up in the gym to shoot his practise sessions. On being asked about his special meal menu, Guram said he is on a special diet and a team of chefs has also accompanied him and will take care of his diet. Aamir will be staying in the hotel for three months. Other than hotel's gym, wrestling ring (aakhra) has also been made at Leera village near the city.
Gujjarwal, Kila Raipur converted to sets for the star
The sets for the movie shoot have also been set up at nearby villages - Kila Raipur and Gujjarwal - which have been converted into Haryana to showcase wrestler's native village.
In these villages, too, villagers had been excited to see his film shooting. When the Ht team visited these villages a few weeks back, several villagers said they will invite their relatives and friends to witness the film shooting.
This marks the second visit of Khan to the city. Earlier, he had come to shoot 'Rang De Basanti' a few years back.
Many denizens have shared the pictures of his arrival in the city on social networking sites and shared their wish to meet and take pictures with the actor.
