While Ayushmann Khurrana was a confirmed name for John Abraham’s next production, Hamara Bajaj, ever since its announcement, speculations have been rife about the female lead.

Initially, it was reported that director Shoojit Sircar would cast Yami Gautam for the role. Later, Parineeti Chopra’s name was apparently being considered for the same. But the latest we hear is that Raashi Khanna is most likely to be the female lead. Interestingly, the model-turned-actor recently made her Bollywood debut opposite John in Madras Café. “Raashi’s casting is almost confirmed. Shoojit and John will finalise the details soon,” says an industry insider.

While John couldn’t be reached for a comment, Shoojit chose not to reveal any names. “I am still working on the script (of Hamara Bajaj). We have a lot of girls in mind for the lead part. But the final name is yet to be confirmed.” Raashi has appeared in a number of ad films but it was her recent commercial for a DTH provider that made her popular. She did, however, have to audition for her role in Madras Cafe.

Shruti and John team up for the first time
The choice of heroine has been a mystery in another John Abraham film, Welcome Back. So far, names like Sonakshi Sinha and Asin had been doing the rounds. But now, it’s confirmed that Shruti Haasan has been signed opposite John in the Welcome (2007) sequel. Says director Anees Bazmee, “We were considering a lot of names, but no one was finalised. Shruti is the chosen one since she fits the bill perfectly.” The film also stars Anil Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Paresh Rawal. The shoot kicks off next month in Dubai.
