A refreshingly lively take on a dysfunctional family that constantly teeters on the edge of disintegration and yet manages to stick together, the film is attracting both youth and family audience. The film got the fourth best opening of 2016 after Airlift, Kya Kool Hai Hum sequel and Ghayal Once Again and is expected to capitalise on it.
While Saturday numbers may take a hit due to India-Pakistan match, the film is looking at an extended run due to the Holi break next week. Hindustan Times’ Rohit Vats praised director Batra in his Kapoor & Sons review and called the film an emotional roller coaster. “No dark secrets here, but the shock value is definitely there. You’ll love it for being spontaneous, precise, fast paced and well...lovable. A fantastic family drama after a long time,” he wrote.
