Ranbir Kapoor left everyone speechless when photos of him as Sanjay Dutt for the biographical film got leaked on social media. Not just his fans and colleagues in the film fraternity, but Dutt too, was surprised and happily shocked to see that Kapoor resembles him in the photos.

“Sanjay was taken aback when he saw the picture that was doing the rounds on the Internet. The resemblance is uncanny and Sanjay couldn’t stop staring at them,” says Dutt’s spokesperson.

In the recently released photos, Ranbir was seen sporting Sanjay Dutt’s look from the time when the actor was released from Pune’s Yerwada jail in February 2016, after serving a 42-month sentence for being convicted in the 1993 Mumbai serial blast case.

A source close to the actor reveals that Dutt had no clue about the look and was surprised, when the photos took the internet by storm. “Sanjay got to know from someone how Ranbir’s look was circulated on various websites and everyone loved it. That’s when the actor learnt about the photos. On seeing them, he was stunned at the similarities that filmmaker Raju Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor had worked upon. He has absolutely loved it,” informs a source.

Ranbir’s look as a younger Sanjay Dutt, leaked in February last, and had also gone viral. At an event in Mumbai, last week, Ranbir said that the shooting for the film is 60 percent complete.

“As you can see, I’m in the look of Sanjay Dutt and we have shot for more than half of the film. It feels proud that I’m part of his biopic and I’m very thankful to Vinod Sir (Vidhu Vinod Chopra) and Sanjay (Dutt) sir specially for it,” Ranbir was quoted as saying.
