Delhi cop suspended for circulating video of transgender person stripping

The incident occurred after the transgender person and an autorickshaw driver went to the Vasant Kunj (North) police station over a disagreement.

A sub-inspector was suspended on Wednesday for allegedly circulating an obscene video of a transgender person among colleagues at the Vasant Kunj (North) police station in New Delhi.

“It was senseless on the part of the officer to indulge in such an act. He has been suspended for that, and a preliminary inquiry has been initiated against him,” additional deputy commissioner of police (South) Nupur Prasad said.

The incident occurred after the transgender person and an autorickshaw driver went to the Vasant Kunj (North) police station over a disagreement. Even as the officers were questioning them, the transgender person reportedly lost her patience and began stripping. The sub-inspector is accused of recording the act and circulating it among colleagues.

A case has been registered against unknown persons under relevant sections of the IT Act, Prasad said.
