Government clears appointment of top officials of four IIMs, IISER

The HRD ministry appointed Shriram S Dandekar, Vice-Chairman and Executive Director of Camlin Limited, as the chairman of the IIM-Jammu’s board of governors.

The government has cleared the appointment of directors for five Institute of Science Education and Research (IISERs) and chairpersons for the governing board of the four Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs).

The ministry of human resource development (HRD) has appointed Shriram S Dandekar, Vice-Chairman and Executive Director of Camlin Limited, as the chairman of the IIM-Jammu’s board of governors.

Jalaj Ashwin Dani, was made chairman of the IIM-Trichy’s governing board.

The ministry also cleared the name of SK Bajoria, a West Bengal-based industrialist and a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, as the chairman of IIM-Shillong.

Praveen Shankar Pandey, chairman of the Diamond India Limited (DIL), was appointed as the chairman of the board of governors of the IIM-Ranchi.

An eminent biochemist and molecular biologist Jayant B Udgaonkar, who is a senior professor at the national Centre for Biological Scicnes, Bengaluru, was appointed as the director of the (IISER) Pune.

KN Ganesh, a scientist and a senior faculty at the IISER-Pune, was appointed as the director of IISER Tirupati.

The name of Saurav Pal, a senior faculty from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, was cleared for the post of the director of the IISER-Kolkata.

A noted biochemist, immunologist and virologist Debi Sarkar, who is also a senior faculty at the Delhi University, was made director do the IISER-Mohali.

A senior faculty and a scientist from the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, KVR Chary was appointed as the director of IISER-Berhampur Odisha.

“President (Ram Nath Kovind) has approved these appointments on the recommendation of the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry”, official sources said.
