Kate Winslet has said that while she didn’t face sexual harassment, she found Harvey Weinstein to be a bully.

Hollywood actress Kate Winslet, who won Best Actress in a Leading Role Oscar for The Reader, has finally revealed that she did not thank the studio mogul intentionally after her Oscar win in 2009. While talking to a leading US daily, the 42-year-old actress shared, “That was deliberate, absolutely deliberate. I remember being told ‘Make sure you thank Harvey if you win.’ To which I replied, “No I won’t. No I won’t.’ And it was nothing to do with not being grateful. If people aren’t well-behaved, why would I thank him?” reports Entertainment Weekly.

During the interview, she also elaborated on the disturbing behaviour of Weinstein.

The actress noted, “For my whole career, Harvey Weinstein, whenever I’ve bumped into him, he’d grab my arm and say, ‘Don’t forget who gave you your first movie.’ Like I owe him everything. Then later, with The Reader, same thing, ‘I’m gonna get you that Oscar nomination, I’m gonna get you a win, I’m gonna win for you.’”

The Oscar-winning actress described Weinstein’s behaviour as ‘disgraceful’ during the making of The Reader. While she said she was never sexually harassed by him, there was a whole ‘other can of worms’ regarding his behavior. “I can’t even begin to describe the disgraceful behavior that went on — and I’m actually not going to because it’s a can of worms that I’m not prepared to publicly open — nothing to do with sexual harassment. My god. I somehow dodged that bullet.”

Winslet was one of the many stars who slammed Weinstein by issuing a statement to the dozens of allegations of sexual assault and abuse against the latter.

She said, “The fact that these women are starting to speak out about the gross misconduct of one of our most important and well regarded film producers, is incredibly brave and has been deeply shocking to hear. The way Harvey Weinstein has treated these vulnerable, talented young women is not the way women should ever ever deem to be acceptable or commonplace in any workplace.” She added, “I hope that Harvey Weinstein absolutely is punished within the fullest extent of the law should that be the case.”
