Singer Yash Wadali, who was booked for allegedly molesting a woman at Goregaon (West) on Wednesday, was arrested early on Friday. Wadali, however, told police the complaint against him was false, and that the woman was “drunk and not in her senses”.
The 39-year-old woman had told police that Wadali molested her at a birthday party. The two were drinking at 5 am at an apartment in Garden Estate. She said Wadali abused her on the pretext of singing, then pulled her collar. Based on her complaint, a case was registered against him under sections of molestation and intentional insult under the Indian Penal Code.
“We arrested him from an Oshiwara bar. We will produce him before a magistrate court,” said Santosh Bhandare, senior inspector, Bangur Nagar police station.
Wadali approached the sessions court on Thursday, seeking pre-arrest bail. The matter is likely to come up for hearing today. His advocate, Falguni Bhrambhatt, said he would file a bail application today. Wadali also told police that the woman had abused and threatened him.
