Stories from partition
Partition of the country created two entities forever. They fought and killed each other for no apparent reasons. Was all the bloodshed and trauma justified in a civilised society? asks Asghar Wajahat's long running play Jis Lahore Nahi Dekhiya O Jamia Nahi. A family from Lucknow who migrated during Partition was allotted a haveli in Lahore, owned by a Hindu family who were probably killed in bloodshed. An old lady survives. The hostile environment attracts thugs who wanted to kill the old lady. But among all the hostilities, the old lady, along with her sensible neighbours and local priest, wins over the brewing hatred with her affection. Oct 29, 7pm, Shri Ram Centre, 23714307
