Young stage artistes unite for theatre fest

City to host youth festival for the first time. Performers include artistes from Mumbai, Pune, New Delhi and even all the way from Russia.

After four successful years of showing in New Delhi, the Atelier's Youth Theatre Week will host a Mumbai leg for the first time. Slated to be held between December 5 to 9 at Sophia Bhabha Auditorium, the festival will showcase five plays by young professionals and college groups from New Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Russia.

"We received around 116 entries. Groups from Bangladesh and Pakistan sent in their entries too," says festival director Kuljeet Singh. Atelier's Youth Theatre Week 2010, presented by Hindustan Times in association with UTV World Movies will be inaugurated today, at a formal ceremony followed by a music performance. "We hope to make it a Sunday-to-Sunday feature by next year, and expand to Bangalore and Kolkata too.
