India continued to win medals on day 14 of the Asian Games 2018 with Amit Panghal leading the way with gold in men’s flyweight category. Panghal beat reigning Olympic champion Hasanboy Dusmatov to claim the gold medal India men’s hockey team beat Pakistan 2-1 to win bronze. Akashdeep Singh and Harmanpreet scored for India while Muhammad Atiq scored for Pakistan. Perhaps the most surprising medal came in Bridge where Pranab Bardhan and Shibhnath Sarkar won gold. InSquash women’s team won silver after going down 0-2 in the final.

Medal eludes Siddarth Pardeshi
Siddarth Pardeshi won’t be winning a medal at the Asian Games, he is currently sixth and the people in front of him still have a dive left.

India beat Pakistan 2-1 in men’s hockey bronze medal match at Asian Games 2018. Akashdeep Singh and Harmanpreet Singh the scorers for India, while Muhammad Atiq scored for Pakistan.

Zhou Yu wins her third Asian Games gold medal by triumphing in the women’s canoe/kayak 500m sprint double with Li Yue. She had also won the women’s kayak single 500m title in 2010 and 2014. It was China’s seventh overall gold medal in the event.

Jumpei Furuya won the men’s triathlon to give Japan their 70th gold medal at the 18th Asian Games. It was Japan’s third successive victory in the event.

More appreciation for Swapna Barman
Referring to the success of Swapna Barman, India’s first-ever Asian Games gold medal winner in heptathlon, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said she would be provided all facilities to achieve a better result at the next big sporting event.
The state government has already announced a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh and a government job for Barman.

Heartbreak for Vikas Krishan
Vikas Krishan, who had sustained an eye injury, had to pull out of the semi-final bout of the men’s middle 75 kg boxing event. As a result of the pullout, the 26-year-old had to settle for a bronze medal in the prestigious quadrennial tournament.

India lose 0-4 to Kazakhstan in mixed team judo quarterfinals.Vijay Kumar Yadav, Harshdeep Singh Brar, Kalpana Devi and Garima Choudhary played the matches and lost.
Double delight for Japan
Yuika Sugasawa’s last-minute header earned Japan the Asian Games gold medal in pouring rain in Palembang with a 1-0 win over China in the women’s soccer final.
A half hour later on a humid Friday night 400 kilometers (250 miles) away in the Indonesian capital, Japan beat India 2-1 for gold in the women’s field hockey.
India win silver in hockey
India’s women’s hockey team got a silver medal at the Asian Games for the second time as it lost 1-2 to lower-ranked Japan in the final at the Gelora Bung Karno Hockey Field.
World No.14 Japan took the lead through Minami Shimizu in the 11th minute but world No.9 India pulled level through Neha Goyal in the 25th minute. Motomi Kawamura regained Japan’s lead in the 44th minute. India couldn’t find their equaliser and had to settle for the silver medal.

Indian athlete Jinson Johnson, who clinched a gold medal in Men’s 1500m athletics event at the 18th edition of the Asian Games, arrived in India on Friday.
Good news in Judo
India beat Nepal 4-1 in mixed team elimination Round of 16 Judo!
Amit Panghal (49kg) continued his sensational run to make the final with a hard-fought win but an injured Vikas Krishan (75kg) had to settle for bronze after being declared medically unfit for his semifinal.
No medal in Canoe/Kayak Sprint
Prakant Sharma and Jamesboy Singh Oinam finished last in the final as India missed out on a medal in Canoe Double (C2) 200m Men.
Good show by Indian sailors
In the sailing competition, Varsha Gautham and Sweta Shervegar bagged a silver medal in the 49er FX women category, while Harshita Tomar settled for bronze in the Open Laser 4.7 category.
In the 49er FX category, Varsha and Sweta scored a total of 44 points and 40 net points to finish second behind Singapore’s Min Kimberly Lim and Rui Qi Cecilia Low, who got 44 total points and 14 net points.
In the Open Laser 4.7 category, Harshita scored a total of 62 points and 50 net points to finish third.
Squash medal hopes
In squash, India’s women’s team of Joshana Chinappa, Dipika Pallikal, Sunayna Kuruvilla and Tanvi Khanna entered the finals with a 2-0 victory over Malaysia. In the finals, India will take on Hong Kong, who defeated Japan 2-0.
India is sitting at the eighth spot with a total of 65 medals (13 gold, 23 silver 29 bronze), equalling the highest tally of 2010 Guangzhou edition.
