Manipur election: 89% turnout in repolling at 34 booths

Re-polling was ordered on Tuesday following electoral malpractices in the first phase of assembly elections on March 4.

The repoll in 34 polling stations in three districts in Manipur, where election was held in the first phase on March 4, today recorded an 89% voting.

Manipur Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Kumar Dewangan said, “89 per cent polling was recorded at the end of the repoll in 34 polling stations.”

Dewangan said that a repoll would be held in a single booth tomorrow in view of reports of malpractices there.

The Election Commission has also ordered a repoll tomorrow in 27 polling stations spread across 22 Assembly constituencies where election was held in the second phase on March 8 following complaints of electoral malpractices.
