West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress was way ahead of its rivals in assembly elections on Thursday, leading in 146 of the 204 constituencies where trends were available.

The Left-Congress alliance had forged ahead in 56 constituencies.
The Bharatiya Janata Party was in the lead in two seats and the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in three.
A total of 1,961 candidates contested the elections held from April 4 to May 5 to elect a 294-member assembly.
The Trinamool Congress led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Left Front-Congress alliance are the main contenders for power.
