A woman, who reportedly killed her one-year-old daughter for “continuous crying” by slitting her throat in Dhar district on Wednesday was arrested by police on Thursday.
According to Kukshi police station in charge CB Singh, the accused woman, identified as Anita Singh (21) was agitated over continuous crying of her daughter while she was feeding her on Wednesday afternoon.
In a fit of rage she took a sharp-edged weapon lying near her and slit the baby’s throat . She ran away after committing the crime.
Anita’s husband Dal Singh, their 4-year-old daughter and Anita’s mother-in-law were not in the house when the woman allegedly committed the crime.
“A woman Rangbai who was sitting in front of Anita’s house heard the girl’s cry and also saw Anita when she was locking her house,” said police.
Rangbai got suspicious about Anita’s behaviour and informed other neighbours. The neighbours unlocked the house and saw the girl in a pool of blood. They informed the police and rushed the child to a hospital where doctor declared her dead.
CB Singh said, “The family members informed the police that Anita was in a state of depression and didn’t talk much with the family members. Even, she didn’t show any sentiments when she was arrested from a place in the village where she was hiding.”
