Maihar Congress MLA Narayan Tripathi, who has been publicly sharing the dais with BJP leaders but hasn’t resigned from the Congress, arrived in the state capital on Thursday.
Tripathi has recently been served notice by the Assembly secretariat over his status — to be affiliated with either the BJP or the Congress. After reaching Bhopal, Tripathi went to the Assembly and sought a month’s time to give his reply.
However, the BJP state president Nand Kumar Singh Chouhan said that Tripathi hasn’t joined the BJP while Tripathi told media persons that he hasn’t quit the Congress and hasn’t joined BJP either. "I was first elected to the Assembly on a Samajwadi Party ticket. Later, I joined the Congress and won again. I have good relations with many Congress leaders except Ajay Singh," he said.
When asked if he is going to resign from Congress, Tripathi declined to comment. He alleged that senior Congress leader Ajay Singh was responsible for the loss of several Congress leaders in elections during the Vindhya region. "I am still in Congress but I go to meet BJP leaders and even the CM regarding works of people from my region," he said.
