Sagar\Khajuraho: A class 12 student of the Khajuraho Government Higher Secondary School was stabbed outside the school on Thursday evening by another student who had been rusticated four days back.
Police said the victim Abhay Tiwari was stabbed by the accused who may be a minor over a petty dispute.
After the incident, Abhay was rushed to the Khajuraho Community Health Centre (CHC), but the attending doctor was not present. The ambulance driver was also not there and before Abhay could be shifted anywhere he succumbed to his injuries.
Angered by Abhay’s death, a mob ransacked the CHC blaming the attending staff for his death and then staged a chakka-jam at the Basti Chouraha, obstructing the Khajuraho traffic.
Sub divisional magistrare (SDM) Ravindra Awasthi, sub divisional officer of police Israr Mansuri and a heavy police force here rushed to the spot. The officers persuaded the family of the deceased and others staging the chakka-jam to withdraw their agitation. Shops were also closed down.
SDM Awasthi said the duty doctor at the CHC was not present, and there was no ambulance driver because the health department had not appointed a permanent driver for the ambulance. “I am preparing a report and sending it to the district collector,” he said.
SDOP Mansuri said a manhunt had been launched to arrest the accused. .
